Danielle Gelleny

About Danielle

Danielle is a compassionate and experienced provisional psychologist who supports children, teenagers, adults, and families through counselling and psychoeducational assessments.

With a background in education and seven years of experience working as a teacher, learning support specialist, and counsellor, Danielle brings a strong understanding of the academic, emotional, and social challenges that children and adolescents may experience.

Danielle offers psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents ages 6–16, as well as counselling services for teenagers ages 13+ and adults ages 18+.

*At this time, Danielle is accepting new virtual and in-person clients

Doctoral Research

Danielle is currently a PsyD doctoral candidate with California Southern University. Her research will examine the supportive practices available to police officers within the Calgary Police Service and how to better support Calgary’s law enforcement officers. This research comes from an organizational and literary gap in the unique needs of police officers to support their mental health, as well as the mental health stigma that is present within police organizations.

Danielle's Approach

Danielle believes that therapy should feel supportive, practical, and tailored to each individual. She works collaboratively with clients to understand the challenges they are facing, recognize their strengths, and develop strategies that can create meaningful change.

Her approach is compassionate and straightforward. Danielle provides clients with a safe space to speak openly while also offering honest feedback, practical tools, and realistic guidance.

Her approach integrates evidence-based therapies, including:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Trauma-informed counselling
Anxiety and stress management techniques
Emotional regulation and coping strategies
Strengths-based and client-centered therapy

Danielle adapts her approach to each client’s age, personality, experiences, and individual goals.

What To Expect

Clients can expect Danielle to be warm, approachable, honest, and practical. She understands that many people are not only looking for someone to listen, but also for guidance and strategies they can use in their everyday lives.

Danielle’s goal is to help clients better understand themselves, develop confidence, and feel more capable of navigating challenges at school, at work, at home, and within their relationships.

Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, trauma, stress, burnout, or personal growth, Danielle provides a supportive environment where you can work toward meaningful and lasting change.

Psychoeducational Assesments

Danielle provides comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 18.

A psychoeducational assessment can help families better understand a child’s individual learning profile, including their academic strengths, areas of difficulty, attention, memory, and overall cognitive functioning.

Assessments may be helpful when there are concerns related to:

Learning disabilities
ADHD or attention difficulties
Academic performance
Reading, writing, or mathematics
Memory and processing skills
School accommodations and supports
Giftedness or advanced learning needs

Following the assessment, Danielle helps families understand the results and provides practical recommendations that can be shared with schools and other professionals.

Book A Consultation

Danielle offers counselling services both in-person and virtually across Alberta.

If you are ready to take the next step, you can book a session or a free 15-minute consultation to see if therapy is the right fit for you.
